Colossal U Ad Campaign!

At first I really disliked the way Colossal U was advertising itself, but when I learned that it was all a set up for Algoma U's advertising campaign I found it pretty interesting and kind of funny. x) These Colossal University advertisements were designed to grab the interest of the people who pass by... and hopefully they would end up exploring "Colossal U's" website. The ads diminished the value of individuality with sayings like "Every Colossal U student will turn out exactly the same. We guarantee it." and "New ideas and new thinking? Not at Colossal U." I really doubted that these ads were true because everyone is different from each other. Everyone learns differently from each other. If they are treated the way Colossal U promises to treat them then there is no way in life that any of the students that attend Colossal U will get a promising education. Like, maybe one out of a bajillion students will. Actually not even that; I bet if Colossal U was a real school they'd end up with like.. what? Ten kids in enrollment? Anyways, like I said, each student is different and has different learning needs. I know this because at Ward there are a million different ways to learn one thing in our self directed school. Going to my school I've come to realise that variety and individuality is a key part of my education.
Algoma U tried to get passers by to be intrigued by Colossal U's ridiculous statements. Hopefully those with "new ideas" and "new thinking" would be infuriated by these advertisements and want to explore Colossal U's site. When we get to the site a woman comes and pushes the graphics and stuff aside to make room for Algoma University which, according to her & several other professors and students, is the exact opposite of what Colossal U is. In my opinion, they used this campaign to show potential students that unlike other schools, Algoma U's community will care about you as an indiviual and not just a number. Their students won't be cookie cutter versions of each other, but they are going to further develop their individualality if they enroll at Algoma University. All in all I found this campaign clever and pretty funny.

I think these ads are to strike curiosity in people and future students because the only way to find out about it is really by checking out the site. If someone was being lazy and took the ads completely literally, there would be no way for them to find out the opportunities available at Algoma U. Either way, I think it was a great ad campaign as well.
